LEARNING JOURNEY:

During my internship at, I was assigned to edit an educational lecture video featuring on Cultural Perspectives in Thanatology for medical students. This project was part of the school’s digital learning initiatives, where lecture recordings are edited into professional educational materials to support student learning.

My responsibilities included handling the post-production editing workflow using. This involved trimming lecture footage, synchronising slides with the speaker’s presentation, refining pacing, adding captions, and ensuring the overall visual flow remained smooth and engaging for viewers. During the editing process, I also applied techniques such as green screen keying and slide refinement to improve the professionalism and consistency of the final educational video.

While working on this project, I gained exposure to topics related to cultural perspectives surrounding death, grief, and end-of-life practices. Although my role mainly focused on editing and post-production, the lecture content gave me a better understanding of how cultural beliefs and traditions can influence healthcare experiences and perspectives toward death and bereavement. This made the project both meaningful and insightful as it allowed me to see how healthcare education extends beyond medical knowledge into cultural and human understanding.

Throughout the editing process, I learned the importance of paying close attention to detail, as even minor inconsistencies in subtitles, pacing, or slide transitions could affect the overall quality of the educational material. I also refined the edits based on supervisor feedback and learned how to adapt my workflow according to professional expectations and deadlines. Working on educational lecture content helped me improve my ability to manage time effectively while maintaining editing quality and professionalism.

Overall, this project strengthened my technical editing skills, workflow management, and attention to detail while giving me valuable experience working with healthcare-related educational content in a professional environment. It also encouraged me to become more adaptable, proactive, and confident when handling longer-form educational video projects.
