Magical Forest Village (Sound Scape)
For this soundscape project, I created a 60-second forest scene that focused on creating a calm, natural, and immersive atmosphere. I first identified the sound effects needed to support the story, including flowing water, birds chirping, clock chimes, footsteps, wind and trees, walking sticks, and forest ambience.
I downloaded the necessary sound effects and imported them into my DAW, where I selected and organised the sounds into different tracks. I layered two different bird sound effects to add more depth and make the forest sound more realistic. I also combined the walking stick and clock chime sounds into one track as they were short and did not overlap much, which helped keep the project organised.
For the arrangement, I started with the sound of birds chirping before slowly introducing the flowing water. I gradually increased the water volume to create the feeling of moving closer to the stream. I also used volume adjustments and fades to make the transitions between sounds smoother. The water was kept as the main sound because it helped create the calm and peaceful feeling of the scene.
I also used panning to create movement within the soundscape. For example, I panned the footsteps from the left while adjusting their volume to make it feel as though the animals were approaching, passing by, and then moving away. Finally, I used EQ on the clock chimes, water, and walking sticks to remove unwanted frequencies and help the sounds blend naturally with the environment. After completing the mix, I exported the final soundscape as a 60-second WAV file.
